Brakeboard

Brakeboard-Trucks-00

Going fast on a longboard is fun but falling while going down hill doesn’t feel very good, nor is it fun anymore. When I was younger bombing hills was one of my favorite things to do, but if I had Brakeboard back then, I probably would’ve stuck with it. The skateboard truck with a built-in brake system has hit the nail on the head as it allows for powerful and controllable stopping and smooth speed control down steep descents, so road rash won’t be an option anymore.  The trucks are made to retrofit any skateboard or longboard and using your existing longboard wheels is also an option. A very interesting invention to say the least and I’m excited to say, this might just bring back one of our old favorite pastimes.

Skate-Home Indy Armchair

Skate-Home-Indy-Armchair-00

I know your loft or apartment has been lacking in the furniture area, but finding that perfect piece for your humble abode will most likely be a mission and a half. The Skate-Home Indy Armchair is here to at least check one piece off of your list. Sturdy and pretty damn clean-looking, this armchair is made from four skateboards, upholstered in leatherette and the structure is made from lacquered steel giving you reliable durability. You can pick it up in black or white leatherette but the most intriguing part of all is the ability to customize your very own with a pretty good selection of colors for the front, side, buttons and structure. It also wouldn’t hurt to check out the rest of what Skate-Home has to offer.

I live in SoCal where there are boardwalks galore and hills that can be bombed with a view you couldn’t imagine. Skateboards are a beautiful thing to have over here in SoCal and these District Skateboards are handmade right out of the heart of Los Angeles – only about a two hour drive from where I lay my head. Currently there are three boards available – the Model A , the Pygmoid , and the Pygmy. Each board has a handmade reclaimed barn wood veneer, maple core and black/blue dye fade. Pick one up through the District online shop.

SK8 Tile by Art of Board

We have seen many things being created by recycled skateboards such as sunglasses, iPhone cases and more. With more and more skateboards being broken every year the people over at Art of Board decided it was time to take the utilization up to the next level, Sk8 Tiles. Hand cut from 100% recycled skate decks and sold by the square foot. These tiles are hand cut with the scuffs and scratches kept intact. Making each tile a one of a kind piece.
