An iPhone Amplifier Blown from a Single Piece of Glass

glass-iphone-amp-00

There are various ways to amplify the sound of your iPhone, but we can say we’ve never seen anything like this iPhone amplifier made from one piece of glass. Your friends won’t even know what hit them when they walk into your house and they see your iPhone levitating on the coffee table. Well, not literally levitating but you get the drift. Named “My iPhone Amp,” it’s designed and made by Aric Snee who aims to combine the spirit of modernism with the centuries old tradition of glass blowing. Each one is handcrafted individually by Snee, who teaches Neon and light based sculpture at Ball University. In other words, you don’t have to worry about a damn thing.

Hidden-Landscapes-on-iPhone-00

Finding new ways to utilize photography through an iPhone and DSLR comes to us from Sam Alive’s tumblr page and a 2 year project in the making: Through the Phone. His love for blurry backdrops and crisp scenery have made for eye-catching photography unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. We’ll admit that we have some kind of weakness when it comes to any kind of landscape photography, so finding this project kind-of, actually made our day. Check out the series below and a good variety of hi-resolution landscape photos on his tumblr page.

Phone Signal Degradation Becomes Obsolete with the AL13 v2

al13-v2-00

Losing phone service is a huge pet peeve around the Direkt Concept offices, especially if its due to your phone case or bumper. So when we found out that the AL13 v2 was on Kickstarter we couldn’t help but pledge. Reducing signal loss by 10% was part of the first version of AL13, but the creators wanted to do more with their newest version and indeed they did. With their newest version they’ve completely eliminated signal degradation caused by metal bumpers and by choosing to work with a completely different factory for v2, they’ve upped the quality and toughness substantially. It also comes with a screw-free, slide-on installation process that will make your life that much easier.

iQi Wireless Charger

iQi-Wireless-Charger-00

Even though I’ve stuck with Apple devices throughout my life, there are still some things that Android devices have that I’d like to see on my iPhone or iPad. Luckily for us there are great inventors out there inventing things like the iQi Wireless Charger for your iPhone. It starts off with a paper-thin, credit card-sized wireless charging receiver that plugs into your iPhone’s Thunder port and is so thin it gracefully sits between your phone and any case. Next, you plug in the Koolpuck charging pad via USB, set your phone on top of it, and watch in amazement as your phone’s battery comes back to life.

Lightstrap

Lightstrap-iPhone-Light-00

Integrating more light at night into a photo never hurts, especially for the avid smartphone photographers or just the average photo-taker trying to get a crisp shot. A new iPhone gadget called Lightstrap is helping people accomplish that by merging a light and phone case together. By doing so it offers the photographer a cleaner, less grainy, and a hell-of-a lot more vibrance to the shot. It works with pretty much any camera app for your phone and is compatible with photo or video. Unfortunately their Kickstarter was cancelled, but the product is still scheduled to drop via other sources. Hopefully.

Finding ways to create sound and eventually turning it into music are what synths have been doing for years upon years. Of course there are apps that can turn your iPhone into an instrument, but with the AUUG Motion Synth you can physically turn your device into one by ultimately placing hardware on it and utilizing sounds from other iOS audio apps running on the same device. Simply attach the Motion Synth to your iPhone or iPod, slip the grip over your hand and within seconds you’ll be playing notes, altering sounds, and controlling audio in a very unique way. You can also play external devices like hardware synths or vocal harmonizers as well as control audio or visual software on a laptop via wirelessly control software or a MIDI cable.
