Spring-celestial-events-00

Believe it or not, there are some things in life that are free; mother nature and outer space being two of the very few things left. Space.com has curated a list of celestial events like spring meteor showers and eclipses that will let you know when and where to look, so that you don’t miss out on any of the night-sky action. You can check a full list of events via Space.com, with the first event taking place April 14 and 15 (Mars’ closest approach in 2014 and a total eclipse of the moon). It goes on through the end of May, so be sure to read carefully through the whole thing, that way you’ll have your telescopes and binoculars ready for gazing.

Check it HERE.

Red Bull Stratos

Whether it be the good or the bad we have all witnessed historical events and the breaking of world records. What Felix Baumgartner accomplished yesterday was something that old and new generations were able to witness together as they saw our very own species jump from an altitude of 128,097 feet and travel at an estimated speed of sound. These are records that we probably won’t see broken (by a human body) for a very long time or ever again. After the perfect landing, Felix dropped down to his knees and raised his arms in victory as he nestled himself safe into the history books. Congrats to a brave, brave soul.

Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO

We thought we were going to see it in 2004 and then again in 2009 but Mr. Jobs held in their tough. Yesterday Steve Jobs made his resignation official. Being the main force behind Apple’s success, the resignation of Steve Jobs didn’t really shock the world but put it on its toes – looking for answers of what’s next for one of the most valuable companies in the world? Hours after Jobs announced his resignation, Tim Cook, 50, put his name into the limelight as he emerged as the new CEO of Apple Inc. Cook isn’t new to the position as he spent a short spell running Apple back in 2004 and 2009 during Steve Jobs’ absence due to his medical reasons.

Below is the letter from Steve Jobs announcing his resignation

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

apple, Steve jobs
