Looking at the pictures you are probably thinking their real photographs right? Wrong. These are actually large-scale oil paintings by artist Dan Witz who just opened his new solo exhibit called, “NY Hardcore.” In his latest showcase, the Brooklyn-based artist’s second show at the gallery includes works from his celebrated Mosh Pit series. The series, which is inspired by his experience in the early ’80s performing in post-punk noise bands during the downtown NY scene, showcases NY’s hardcore-punk scene that embodies Witz’s desire for comparable intensity and rebelliousness in his painting. If you’re in the New York area, be sure to check out his gallery running until May 3.

Digital Paintings by Russ Mills

Unique digital paintings come to us on behalf of artist Russ Mills as he uses a variety of traditional methods such as painting and drawing with ink and pencil. Throwing in a twist, he uses scanned textures like the splotches of paint and photography to make it extra realistic. His result is an outstanding piece of work filled with energy, emotion and chaos. Russ likes to refer to his pieces as painting disasters but we like to think of it as “art”.

Utilizing various colors for his portraits the dark titles that accompany them may come to a surprise. The collage approach adds texture and depth to his paintings which consist of broken down cars, birds, small children and grown adults – all being random but at the same time – diverse objects. Bremer’s style and approach to his paintings have made his originality stand-out from the rest.  Continue reading
