'Time is Illmatic' to Debut at Tribeca Film Festival

It’s pretty unbelievable that Nas’ Illmatic album has already been around for 20 years. Not only is it a classic album, but it’s also hip-hop’s album. It’s and album that encapsulates the sociopolitical outlook, enduring spirit, and collective angst of a generation of young black men searching for their voice in America. Twenty years later Time is Illmatic will delve deep into the making of Nas’ 1994 debut album and the social conditions that influenced its creation. The full-length documentary will premier at the opening night of Tribeca Film Festival on April 16, but in the mean time check out the trailer above and fill your body with anticipation.

Nas Performs Entire 'Illmatic' Album at SXSW

We were blessed with the opportunity to see Nas live last year at Rock the Bells. If you haven’t seen Nasir live than we suggest you find that chance. If you never get that chance then thank VEVO because Nas has released 14 video clips of his hotly anticipated SXSW show where he performed his entire debut Illmatic LP. Nas was also later joined on stage by fellow member of The Firm, AZ Pete Rock as they did at Rock the Bells while we were there. Sorry guys no Meta World Peace (Ron Artest) this time, but classic hits like “Hate Me Now,” “Phone Tap” and “NY State of Mind” can all be heard and seen HERE. Now you don’t even have to leave your bedroom to see him perform the sacred Illmatic

A look into Common & Nas “Ghetto Dreams”

This song has been getting a lot of press lately, but shit – it’s well deserved when you have Common and Nas on the same track and to top it off it’s produced by No I.D. As my good friend said, ” Zack, this song gave me instant wood” – probably the best review of any song (lol). Now stop reading this and watch the video above as it takes a closer look at the creation process of Common and Nas’s “Ghetto Dreams.” Brian “B.Kyle” Atkins follows both rappers with his camera and offers an in-depth look at the making of one of the most exciting collaborations this year.

Common featuring Nas – Ghetto Dreams

After Amazon brought you the 30-second snippet of the song entitled Ghetto Dreams by Common and Nas we now bring you the full version. Produced by No I.D. – this beat has the raw samples and raw ass drums as two of the hottest MC’s to ever grace the mic flow over it taking it back to the underground roots of hip-hop. This track will be on Common’s ninth studio album, The Dreamer, The Believer set to drop in November through Warner Bros. Records.

Common Featuring Nas – Ghetto Dreams

A couple of days ago Amazon premiered a preview of Common’s first single off of his upcoming ninth album, The Dreamer, The Believer. Not only has the White House controversy and the fact that Common hasn’t put out an album since 2008 made this track a highly-anticipated one, but Nas as the co-star? The song, entitled “Ghetto Dreams” is produced by No I.D.

Be on the lookout for the full song, which will supposedly be made available for purchase on June 23.
