Google Smart Contact Lenses

All focus has seemingly gone from Google Glass to Google Smart Contact Lenses in a matter of one single press release. Although the contact lenses aren’t really comparable to Google Glass yet, Google has definitely started on the right track. The announcement comes in the form of targeting diabetic patients and how certain body fluids (like tears) can help doctors track glucose levels and other issues that diabetic patients may face. Google is still in talk’s with the FDA, and it may be a long time before we see it at a consumer level, but we definitely tip our hat off to them for the innovation to come.

It basically transforms any cardio equipment into an interactive video gaming machine. Along with your iPad, attach the wireless controllers to the cardio equipment, clip on the activity sensor, and you’re ready to play a variety of games. It also features a wireless activity sensor that will simultaneously track your movement, such as distance traveled, calories burned, and whether you’ve met preset goals. If you don’t have any cardio equipment to attach the controllers to, simply hold them in your hand and they will work the same as having them attached to the equipment.

Wearable tech has been on a roll lately but has just now been taken to a completely different level with ATHOS apparel. Backed with $3.5 million in seed funding, Athos is a wearable technology that is fully integrated into workout clothing, and can track your muscle groups, heart rate, breathing level and more. The Core is at the center of it all, as the elegantly designed red gadget is integrated into the apparel, which in turn measures your body’s metrics thorough electrical activity. It then sends that activity to a coinciding app that displays a simulated body to see which muscles are being worked out the most, too much or not enough.

During Nike’s exclusive event today in New York City, they unveiled the all new Nike+ FuelBand SE for your fitness tracking needs. Now available in three neon color options (volt, crimson or pink), Nike has added a few minor improvements with Bluetooth 4.0, more water resistance, and an improved ability to track movement. They’ve also added the ability to monitor yoga activity and track sleeping habits. Along with that, they introduced the new Nike+ FuelBand app that includes day-to-day statistics, how much, how often and how intensely you move, while also reminding you to move more and move better. Of course, share the data with your friends and set the example for them to follow.

Check out this WiFi body scale from innovative tech company Withings. It is the first WiFi body scale that connects to the internet and it automatically records your weight, fat mass and BMI. If that isn’t exciting enough then you would be happy to know that this WiFi scale uploads the data automatically to a private, password protected website where you can track your performance and monitor weight loss goals.
