NBA 2K14

NBA-2K14-00

You’re probably thinking, “Oh great, another rigged NBA 2K game.” In a few ways it probably will be, but NBA 2K14 definitely has its perks. Crews is back after being left out for two years, Dynamic Live Rosters is probably one of our favorites due to the fact that it automatically updates daily to reflect true life hot and cold streaks. One thing we are really stoked about is the enhanced defense, which includes blocked dunks, and the new Pro Stick that lets you throw down show-stopping moves, pull off intricate shots, and toss flashy no-look passes with much-needed accuracy.

Black Book of Cards

Black-Book-Of-Playing-Cards-00

Poker nights are about to get a bit darker with the all new Black Book of Cards playing card deck now taking your pledge on Kickstarter. However, their color isn’t the only thing that makes this deck of cards stand out. Each card within the Black Book possesses its own unique and time-intensive typographic design with different personality words throughout the card. The cards are also based on a concept kind of like our Zodiac sign; by suggesting personal characteristics unique to a person’s date of birth by using the Chart Cards provided with the  deck. The full deck of cards comes in a matte finished Tuck Box, so when you’re gathered around the poker table with your buddies, it’ll be extra mysterious when you open it.

DICE+

DICE+ Game Controller

It was only a matter of time that someone combined technology with the concept of dice. That’s right, DICE+ universal game controller has the touch and feel of a gamedice, except this dice might be a little bit smarter than the human this time around. It interacts through Bluetooth with capable smart devices like your tablet as it pretty much turns it in to a digital board game. Choose from digital renditions of digitized classic board games or a wide range of titles based on popular franchises, which will be available later this year. If you’re a developer, then you can add your expertise and creativity by developing new ways and games to use the device. It should last you up to 20 hours of game play so you shouldn’t have a problem getting through your night. Oh, and the first person who figures out a drinking game with it gets……..to pat themselves on the back and share it with the rest of us.

NVIDIA Shield

NVIDIA-Sheild-00

Yesterday, I was told by my fellow Android users that I favor iOS products over Android. I said, “You know what, I think I do too.” With that, I have been lead to the NVIDIA Shield and I’m pretty damn impressed. Operating on the latest Android Jelly Bean OS, this nifty gadget combines high-performance gaming with portable entertainment. It features a quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of flash memory, a 5-inch multi-touch display, and built-in speakers. You can access a catalog of games through Google Play or you can even stream them straight from your PC to your console via WiFi connectivity. Games are limited but we’re sure you’ll find one that you can’t get your hands off of.

Tom Clancy's The Division

Tom-Clancys-The-Division-00

I’m not gonna lie, the only video games I play are Call of Duty, Madden, FIFA and NBA2K. Basically the only four games you need (in my book). When I was introduced to Tom Clancy’s The Division, I was pretty damn impressed. Although the release date isn’t until Winter 2014, for both the XBox One and Playstation 4, we had to let you know about this waaaaaaaay in advance because it’s just that-bad-ass. Developed by Ubisoft and introduced at E3, this video game is set three weeks after Black Friday; a virus has been spread across New York City and all services start to fail within days. You’ll find yourself as part of The Division sent out to work independently to save the city from the massive conspiracy along with bad ass graphics! Add this one to the top of your 2014 wishlist.

Playstation 4

Playstation-4-00

The battle between Microsoft and Sony has been raging for many years now with no out-and-out winner (or, at least, so far as I’m concerned) but if the recent E3 Computer Expo event is anything to go by, Sony may well have just struck the decisive blow in this battle royale. If, like me, your loyalty lies with whatever is cheapest, then the Playstation 4 will definitely be the apple of your eye when it hits stores later this year because it comes in at a mere $399 – in comparison to the eye-watering $499 of the Xbox One. It’s not just the price that will see you flirt more outrageously with the PS4 when you’re weighing up your options, it also has some mightily impressive hardware under its hood – including a single-chip eight-core AMD Jaguar custom low power x86-64 APU with a Radeon based graphics engine, 8GB of GDDR5 RAM and a Blu-ray optical disc drive. BOOM! Eat it Microsoft.
