OriJeans

OriJeans-Kickstarter-00

We see a lot of denim come through the Direkt Concept inbox, but OriJeans managed to catch our attention due to their dedication of cutting out the middle man and producing hand-crafted denim. The new start-up was established by two college friends who decided one day that it was time for a change. Each pair of OriJeans is made-to-order from the comfort of your home with a unique web-constructor. Based on your very own personal measurements, the jeans are constructed with the best selvedge denim from U.S.A. and Japanese mills, but only after you’ve chosen your pocket and stitching options. You can then finish off the jeans with a distressed look adding tears, rips, and minor scuffs – which in turn makes them your very own customized jeans. Help this unique start-up get the ball rolling through their newly launched Kickstarter!

Bluer Denim

BLUER-Denim-Washes-00

Quality “anything” always comes at a steeper price, but I think I’ve found a solution in Bluer Denim that contains quality, along with fair pricing. Cut from cotton grown in Georgia and milled in North Carolina, while being designed in Portland, Oregon, then being cut, sewn, washed and hand-finished in Los Angeles – this is the definition of a true American brand. Their premium denim line consists of four fits, with each coming in four different washes to choose from. Available this fall, they’ll be starting up their “Home Try-On” where you’ll be able to try on their jeans in the comfort of your own home, keep them up to 7 days, then send back the one’s you don’t want when you’ve made your decision. But, that’s not even coolest part. Their “Buy One, Give One” program allows you to send back a used pair of jeans (after you’ve purchased a pair), Bluer will wash them, carefully donate the pair to someone in-need and you’ll receive a five-dollar coupon off your next pair of Bluer Denim.

Williamsburg Garment Company

Williamsburg-Garment-Company-Hope-Denim-00

We are huge supporters of bringing back business into the United States. If you’ve never heard of Williamsburg Garment Company, let us give you a brief background of what it’s about. What started as a one-man operation, now currently a two-man operation, this Brooklyn based garment company designs and produces high-quality denim, pants and shirts at a pricing that doesn’t dig deep into the good ol’ bill fold. They’ve recently moved all of their production from overseas back to the U.S.A and their Hope denim is the first garment to come out of the “Made in the U.S.A.” collection. The pants are constructed from 12 oz. North Carolina Cone denim and are fully made in the U.S.A.  You can pick them up at select retailers or via the WBGC online store.

Nudie Organic PIMA Selvage Jeans

Nudie-PIMA-Cotton-Selvage-Jeans-00

I have to admit I am a denim head and when innovation graces denim, then I am all for it. These Nudie Organic PIMA Selvage Jeans fit my description of innovation just fine. Making this denim so unique is the process it had to go through before even becomes a wearable pant. The organic premium Pima cotton used is grown on a small scale organic farm in New Mexico, USA. The selvage fabric was woven in Japan on narrow shuttle looms by skilled denim artisans and finally the denim is cut and sewn at one of the world’s best denim producers in Italy (if only denim could talk right?). This series of denim is limited to 480 pieces with each pair being individually numbered on the back leather patch. Basically, this denim has more culture than you’ll ever have.

VIDEO: EDWIN Factory

This is the kind of stuff we like to see here at DKC. Going behind the scenes of a brand, getting to see the inner workings and getting a peek into where the product is produced. I remember when I was in Jr. High/High school searching the internet countless times, trying to find a behind the scenes video or even just a picture of a clothing companies office and trying to find out where they got their t-shirts, tags and everything in between produced. Now a day’s you go to Google – search what you are looking for and BAM! It’s there.

Enough, of the rant – check out the video above of the high quality work that Japanese denim brand EDWIN puts into their product to make it that much better.
