Direkt Concept – Top 5 Albums of 2011

So here we are, to each their own opinion – every music magazine, blog and website have posted their Top Albums of 2011. Being very picky with music I narrowed the picks down to five judging based on how many times I listened to the album and how long it was in my cars CD player. We wanted to wait until the final moments of 2011 to post this, but being the party animals we are we know that we will be to drunk and hung over come January 1, 2012.

Today we offer you Direkt Concept’s Top 5 Albums of 2011. Please, feel free to argue and voice your opinion on the comment section below – agree or disagree we would love to hear your take on the top albums of 2011. Enjoy!

1) Kendrick Lamar – Section 80

After listening to this album several times over and over (and I am talking many, many times). I came to the conclusion long ago that nobody was going to touch this album/mixtape. Kendrick Lamar has saved west coast hip-hop, need I say more?

2) The Roots – undun

Having love for every Root’s album this one out does all of them. Progression is key and The Roots have definitely mastered that. Undun brings us the soul we had been looking for all year. All I have to say is, Thank You.

3) The Black Keys – El Camino

Changing up their style slightly the Black Keys never seem to disappoint. With crunchy vocals and guitars their original sound always makes the unique duo stand out.

4) Frank Ocean – Nostalgia, Ultra

A break out artist coming out of the Odd Future camp Frank Ocean is making a name for himself. By doing so with the vocals he unleashes on all of his tracks. Nostalgia Ultra is a mixtape but it’s a damn good one. We look forward to more from Mr. Ocean in 2012 but for now this one will do.

5) Jay-Z & Kanye West – Watch The Throne

Thought it wasn’t going to make the list huh? Well it did, but it came in at number 5. A great album in most aspects – it looks like hip-hop took the prize this year. We can’t wait to see what 2012 has in store for the music industry. Stay Tuned.
